God's Family Dinner University Baptist Church provides a meal for area homeless individuals Thursday evenings. Volunteers are needed to help prepare the meal and the Fellowship Hall week. Set-up begins at 4:30 p.m., with the meal served from 5-6 p.m., followed by clean-up until 6:30 p.m.

Micah 6 Food Pantry
In conjunction with the Thursday evening meal is distribution of food to those who qualify. Stocking occurs approximately from 3:30-4:30 p.m.. Shopping is from 6 - 7 p.m. on Thursday evenings and again on Saturdays from 10:30-11:30a.m.

Baptist Soup Kitchen
On the third Friday of every month, church volunteers serve lunch at the Baptist Soup Kitchen in downtown Austin for several hundred people. After a prayer, workers serve hot soup, sandwiches, fruit, and other donated food.

Crop Walk
University Baptist Church participates in a Church World Service sponsored annual fundraising event for world hunger. Walkers solicit support from church members who pledge an amount for each mile walked (or simply make a donation for this cause), and church members walk together as a group on the given Sunday.

Food for the Homeless
The children's department periodically prepares lunches of nonperishable foods such as granola bars, applesauce cups, cookies and crackers, for the children to hand out to the people at street corners who are asking for food.

Lifeworks Program
University Baptist Church provides the facilities for food preparation for a weekly meal for the homeless youth around the church. Though the food is brought in and prepared by Project Phase, all volunteers are welcome to help in this Tuesday afternoon program.

Hands on Housing
In October and April, the young adults lead the church in the revnovation of houses for people who cannot afford to pay for such services. Sponsored by Austin Area Interreligious Ministries, this project is seen as an opportunity for building relationships across Austin as representatives from different communities work together to provide housing for several families. Training workshops are led by AMM for the volunteers who work on the houses.

Brighton Gardens Visits
Every 5th Sunday of the month from 2-2:30pm, chruch members visit Brighton Gardens at 4401 Spicewood Springs Road (Northwest Austin) to sing hymns and share a short devotional with residents.

AIDS Walk
This is a walk-a-thon sponsored by Open Circle to raise money for various non-profit organizations that care for people living with AIDS or that provide education in order to prevent the spread of the disease. It is the largest, single fundraising activity for many of these organizations. A few thousand individuals participate in this walk each year. Many people participate as part of a team from a church, business, social organization, etc. University Baptist Church has had a team participate for the last seven years.

Friendship International Volunteers from 20 Baptist churches provide classes and fellowhsip for Austin Area international women interested in seeking new friends, developing their creative skills, and mastering the English language. Friendship meets every Thursday morning (during UT sessions) from 9:15-11:15 a.m. at Hyde Park Baptist Church.
